How many cartons fit on a pallet depends on the carton dimensions, the pallet type, the maximum total height and the weight limit. This calculator tries cartons upright, on their side and on end; after the main block is placed, the remaining gaps are filled with cartons turned another way, and the plan holding the most is kept.

Set the height limit to match your racking, vehicle or customer requirements. If the weight limit is reached first, the quantity is reduced and the limiting factor is shown. The result is shown as a rotatable 3D load plan, with the empty space visible.

How to calculate Pallet load

  1. Enter the carton length, width, height and weight.
  2. Choose whether the carton must stay upright.
  3. Choose the pallet type or enter a custom size.
  4. Enter the maximum total height and weight, including the pallet.

Pallet load formula

  • Layers = (Max height − Pallet height) ÷ Carton height, rounded down
  • Total cartons = Cartons per layer × Layers
  • Weight limit = (Max weight − Pallet weight) ÷ Carton weight

Pallet load example

40×30×25 cm cartons weighing 12 kg: upright only, 48 fit on a Euro pallet within a 180 cm height limit. Allowing any orientation fills the gaps and fits 50 cartons, 625 kg in total.

Pallet load: common questions

What are the dimensions of a Euro pallet?

A Euro (EPAL) pallet is 120×80 cm, about 14.4 cm high and weighs roughly 25 kg.

Can cartons overhang the pallet?

This calculator allows no overhang. Overhang increases the risk of crushing and prevents pallets from being loaded side by side.

How high can a pallet be?

It depends on transport and warehouse limits; common maximums are 120, 160 and 180 cm.
