When the bill arrives at a full table, two questions follow: how much should we tip, and what does each of us owe? The calculator answers both at once.
Tipping customs vary widely. In the US 15–20% is expected because serving staff rely on tips; across much of Europe 5–10% is usual, and in Japan tipping is not done at all.

Tips: common questions
Should I tip if a service charge is included?
If a service charge is already on the bill, an extra tip is optional; a small amount on top is a courtesy.
Do I tip on the pre-tax or post-tax amount?
Most people tip on the full bill. To be precise, enter the pre-tax amount instead.
What is a quick way to work out a tip?
Move the decimal point one place left for 10%, then double it for 20% or add half again for 15%.
